This is Me
Hi, there! I am so excited to share a little bit of me with you such as what it's like to be an individual in a wheelchair. Instances like challenges, fears, accomplishments, goals, dating, traveling, important topics, education and much more.
I'd think it would be appropriate for my first blog post to express who I am through my story. I've been wanting to share my experience for the past few years. So, let's dive right in...
1. About 9 years ago, I was in a traumatizing car accident that within seconds of the impact, my life changed forever. I was left with a Spinal Cord Injury around my T-11, T-12 area. According to doctors, I would never walk, feel, move, or have any sensation below my injury. Of course, like any other person, I was devastated hearing that. But, as stubborn as I am, I did not let the doctor's diagnosis get to me, I ignored them even though inside of me it was killing me that I would not be the same again.
2. Thankfully, I am still recovering from my car accident and currently going to the Spaulding Hospital in Wellesley for physical therapy. My physical therapist is amazing, hears and tries out anything crazy that comes to my mind. (We just tried taking a couple steps going up the stairs, it was definitely challenging yet felt amazing that we did it and will continue practicing.) As well, do some of my training in the comfort of my home.
3. I recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston in May 2018 with a B.A in Management with a double concentration in Marketing & Entrepreneurship.
4. Although I am currently looking for a job to put all my educational experiences and previous internships into work, I have a few projects that I am working on and that's keeping me busy for now. It's definitely hard in the market for jobs, and sometimes I get discouraged. But, I know God will open the correct one for me.
5. I love music, good podcasts, food, meditating, good friends that make me laugh and forget about the world and being home (I'm an introvert). Also, lately been really into reading. Those who know me would say I'm funny, yet quiet. I'm a shy person, but to be honest, I'm trying to crack out of my shell and show the world that I'm unstoppable. I feel that this injury has given me a purpose in life and want to make a difference.

After my injury, it took a while for me get some confidence and the courage to get back into the real world. I lived with depression, anxiety, and PTSD (I basically stopped talking to everyone and lived in my own bubble). However, little by little, I snapped out of it and got the courage to sign up to go back to school. It took me four years to get my Associates degree, but still got it! For the longest time, I've wanted to open my own very blog to share my experiences and progress with the hope to help or inspire someone. Now fast forward into two years later, I finally have the time to dedicate time to work more on PT, self-care, and aspirations. I am looking forward to this new chapter and sharing more with you.
Your Amazing, May God continue to bless you, guide you and give you all the strength and accomplishments you desire.
