My Goal To Use the Alter G Finally Came True!
I first saw this exercise machine, the Alter G at my previous PT facility. I became so obsessed with it and pictured myself on it one day. Whenever I would see someone use it, I became more and more curious about the Alter G and would think to myself how lucky they were to be able to use it. I noticed that those who used the Alter G needed to have full control of taking each step individually. To get into this machine, you need to wear special pants in order to align/hook you with the machine. So, getting in it with a harness is out of the question.
I'm not saying that I have full control of my body and can take perfect steps because I am not there, yet. But, it definitely takes a few people to help me hop on into the Alter G, but it's possible!

My first time using it was on August 22nd and recently on September 5th. I still can't believe that I am able to get on and use it. To get on it, I stand with the walker right in front of the Alter G, then hold on to the machines on the sides and have the walker removed in front of me. After, I take a step with each foot with help from my therapist because of my left ankle. I have a very high tone in my left ankle that is so stubborn. Those who struggle with this understand my pain and know it's very annoying. Once, I'm in the correct spot, I get zippered with the machine so it can fill up with air and calibrate.
It feels so great to be able to use it and see how I take each step. There is a camera inside the machine where it captures your footsteps, and you're able to see how much weight you are using on each foot. Also, you can adjust the machine to give you more help if needed or not. I usually start out by standing for a while then taking steps slowly. My next goals are to take less weight off my feet and increasing the speed on the Alter G when I walk.

Thank you so much, Danielle, for believing in me, and pushing me to work a bit harder each time. I am really lucky to have found a great friend but also a therapist who listens to your goals and makes sure you achieve them one way or another.
Feel free to press play to see me walk in the Alter G for the 2nd time
